Jon is a good friend of mine from Oregon. Last weekend he married the beautiful Alexa and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The site for the weekend extravaganza was at the Gell Center in the picturesque countryside outside of Rochester, NY, near the small village of Naples. I was lucky to enjoy the weekend with these two very special people, and their amazing friends and family, many of whom have known each other for years.
The Gell Center is operated by Writers and Books (www.wab.org), a not-for-profit organization “designed to help people discover the important part that literature plays in our individual lives and the life of our community.” Both Alexa and her father work for this dynamic organization.
Jon is a talented guitar picker (who I have had the honor of playing with on numerous occasions) and an even more talented songwriter. His songs tell stories anyone with a heart can connect with, set to a dynamic and diverse Americana soundscape, and will one day join similar artists such as Ry Cooder and Bruce Springsteen in the American Songbook.
